One of the biggest issues we face here in South Africa is that of our countries approximately 2.5 million vulnerable children.

The Peace Agency runs and administers a safe haven for abandoned and orphaned babies and babies given up for adoption. As a part of this project, we use the media to promote and advocate adoption as an integral part of the family planning process, rather than plan ‘b’ for those that can’t conceive.

In June 2010, Cathy and Justin Foxton set up The Baby Home on their private property in Umhlanga, Durban. It is currently run from a much larger home in the Durban North area and is under the daily care of Jo & Bjorn Teunissen.

We are able to take in and care for 6 babies, ranging from birth to 4 years. We also have a special focus on mildly special needs babies.

The vision of the Baby Home is to be a work of excellence where babies are given a great start in life. In order for that vision to be sustained we need help from individuals and companies. There are three areas in which you can get involved:

 - Come and spend time with the babies. We have a full-time staff of carers but the babies love stimulation and play outside of what we do on a daily basis.

 - The Baby Home is often looking for professionals to contribute their services; medical, creative, administrative – whatever your area of expertise, it can probably be used to benefit the babies.
